….. do you start?
Hippocrates is credited with “let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” but have you seen what passes off as food these days, let alone the chemical fertilisers, pesticides, atmosphere modification, preservatives and additives that goes on for most of the food we are offered.
But even if we get the food right – what about the rest of the environment around us and not just the obvious stuff like car exhaust fumes. VOC’s from textiles used in our workplaces and homes, BPA in plastics and phthalates (considered to be a hormone disrupting group of chemicals) – now in almost everything, on purpose or not. And did I mention stress or EMF’s or sedentary lifestyles or lack of community?
Getting any easier?
Or is it all just too much and you’ll just deal with it when something serious happens?
Maybe our fascination with sensationalistic news is why we prefer the story of the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff rather than the safety fence at the top. Who can get excited about a fence when there is the possibility of an ambulance!
It is the fence that can keep you healthy. The small daily things you can do to enable your body to keep you well. Quality water, real food (organic if possible), some exercise and be part of a community. Make choices for chemical free, organic personal care products if you can – because if you don’t expose yourself to toxins, your body doesn’t have to remove them.
And our bodies do an amazing job of removing toxins, but sometimes the toxins hide out, get trapped in fat or we are just exposed to so much - that our toxin removal systems cannot keep up.
If our bodies can’t keep up, chronic disease appears. And it will be different for each one of us.
So get fence building. Even if it’s just a low wall to start with and one day it might even become a toxin-proof fence.
Want a hand on where to place your first brick or fencepost? Then contact me and I can help provide a plan for the fence as well as some tools to get you started.
Breathe and eat yourself healthy.
